What a marvellous idea! A really useful way of making sure you've always got some emergency cash stashed away for a taxi home, train fare etc. etc.

I've tried putting an odd note in the back of my purse, but always end up spending it in a decidedly non-emergency situation. However if I had this, there's every likelihood that I'd forget all about the money contained within until I really needed it. Which is the point really.

Bubble Scrubber

Bubble Scrubber

When our dishwasher broke a few months ago, it was replaced within the week.  My husband and I absolutely hate washing up, so the dishwasher is arguably the most important appliance in our kitchen. You can pay someone to cook your food, you can even pay someone to do your washing, but it's a damn sight harder to get people to do your washing up - even with financial inducement.

However spotting the Bubble Scrubber almost made me wistful for the days when I got up to my elbows in Fairy Liquid suds.  What a brilliant idea - combining the drudgery of washing-up with the frivolity of blowing bubbles, thus alleviating the pain of the former and providing an excuse for the childishness of the latter.  Genius!  (But I'm not giving up on the dishwasher any time soon.)

The Bubble Scrubber is available from www.shinyshack.com for £5.99; I've also seen something similar in Paperchase...

Mini Sewing Kit

One of the things I like doing pre-Christmas is checking out the shops to see what I want to pick up in the sales, but this cute-as-a-button mini sewing kit from www.boots.com is so bargainous at £6, I think I will be purchasing it long before Boxing Day.

I've recently started having a go at crafting (good for bringing down the old stress levels) and this looks to have all the basics I'll need to get going on some simple hand sewing projects. Of course, if I become mega-enthusiastic, I'll need something a bit bigger, but in the meantime it will suit me fine.

Even if I do outgrow it, it would make a fantastic box for buttons/hair clips/earrings/paperclips/stray rubber bands (delete as applicable).  In short, once bought, how could I bear to part with something so pretty?

TMI?

So I've started this blog. But I'm still not sure what kind of a blog it's going to be.  To cut to the chase, how much am I willing to share about myself, even under my My Fair Lady pseudonym?

I have no shortage of 'stuff' going on, mostly of the challenging variety.  It's no exaggeration to say that this year has probably been the most stressful of my life in many ways, and I'm still trying to deal with all of the issues it's thrown up.  No rest for the wicked.  :-/

I think for the moment I will probably stick to the lighter side of things rather than the heavy stuff. But if it does start getting a bit dark, well, you have been warned...

Fuzzy Felt

I thought it appropriate to start my new blog with something childish, in the hope that it might manage to become gradually more mature.  In any case though, who could object to Fuzzy Felt, as played with by myself and countless other tots circa. 1981?

Fuzzy Felt Anniversary Compendium

The fabulous stuff is now available to buy again via the wonderfulness that is Hawkin's Bazaar (www.hawkin.com).  As well as the awesome Anniversary Compendium (£9.99) and Glitter Princess (£10.99) FF sets, they also have an array of other retro toys - such as Fisher Price TV sets and old-fashioned Stylophones.  The Fuzzy Felt is definitely on order for my nephew this Christmas.

All this nostalgia...think I need some Jazzies, a bottle of pop and a nice sit down.

About

Inspired by the wonderful blogs I've discovered on Twitter, I decided to start one of my own.

Expect to see covetable items from the cheaper end of the High Street (the bit I frequent!) and just about anything else I feel the need to get off my chest...
